Bullet Train is a 2022 action comedy movie directed by David Leitch from a screenplay by Zak Olkewicz. Based on the Japanese novel Maria Beetle (published in English on the same name as movie) by Kotaro Isaka in 2010. Ladybug is the central character who fights with all the characters travelling in the Bullet Train.

The film is produced by Kelly McCormick, Antoine Fuqua, and David Leitch under Columbia Pictures, 87North Productions, and Fuqua Films whereas the distribution rights are owned by Sony Pictures Releasing. It will open against A24 horror film Bodies Bodies Bodies.

Is Bullet Train on Netflix?

Unfortunately, No. The action comedy film is not available to stream in the giant library of Netflix right now but is expected to arrive on the streaming giant after 6 months of theatrical release that is in February 2023.

The movie will be theatrically released on 5th of August 2022 at different timings inside the US cinemas. Then, the movie will be released on Netflix in Feb 2023 after six months of theatrical run as the per the deal between Netflix and Sony Pictures.

Even though, Chicago Med is no longer streaming on Netflix, there will be some new shows and movies like this one of Brad Pitt that will be introduced to the network as Persuasion, Spiderhead, Takedown, The Adam Project, Army of Thieves, Senior Year, etc.

Where was Bullet Train filmed?

Most of the outdoor filming took place inside Tokyo, Japan while the indoor scenes were done inside Sony Picture Studios located at 10202 W Washington Blvd, Culver City, California. The filming began when Covid-19 wasn’t a big thing but wrapped up on 29 March 2021 in the middle of coronavirus pandemic.

The executive director of the film David Inoue criticized the Asian castings by explaining that the American counterparts would have been better. He supported the belief that Asian actors in the lead roles cannot carry a blockbuster despite seeing blockbusters like Crazy Rich Asians and Shang Chi: The Legend of Ten Rings.


An unlucky assassin Ladybug(Brad Pitt) wants to complete his job peacefully because he has already failed so many times. He wants to prove his value by finishing a task that looks nearly impossible.

However, destiny has some other plans. While going to Japan to execute his mission, he falls into the lethal adversaries of the world’s fastest train and become the part of a nonstop thrill ride inside modern Japan.


The feast fight scenes are looking great. David Lee(from Deadpool 2, Hobbs and Shaw), Brad Pitt, and all the supporting cast have done well and Joey King and Sandra Bullock character was kind of interesting. Bad Bunny, Aaron Taylor Johnson, Andrew Koji, Hiroyuki Sanada have done an awesome job.
