Haikyuu season 5 is an upcoming season to one of the most loved sports anime series that follows a determined boy who gathers inspiration from a professional volleyball player and wants to become good at volleyball despite his small appearance.
Based on the Japanese manga series of the same name written and illustrated by Haruichi Furudate, the anime adaptation aired on MBS from April 2014 to December 2020 while the manga has began serialization in Feb 2012 and ran till 2020, all of its chapters are collected into 45 manga volumes that are licensed by Viz Media.
The comedy anime TV series is directed by Susumu Mitsunaka(E01-E60), Masako Sato(E61-E85), written by Taku Kishimoto, and produced by Production IG, the Japanese animation studio known for Noblesse and Psycho Pass.
Will there be a Haikyuu Season 5?
No announcements have been made whether Haikyuu season 5 is happening or not but a film Haikyuu! Final is confirmed to be under development in 2023. The movie will be released into two parts and will continue the events after season 4 of the original anime series.
The article from Collabo Cafe features a collab menu based on basketball match between ‘Karasuno High vs. Nekoma High’ that gonna be the main theme of Haikyuu S5.
However, the creators have confirmed on 13 Aug 2022 that there won’t be a season 5 of the series. Instead, a two part movie titled Haikyuu Final will be released to end the series.
Yes, there will be a match between Karasuno and Nekoma teams with a lot of fun.
The first season premiered in 2014, second season in 2015, third in 2016, and the fourth season was released after four long years in 2020. Creators hinted in December 2020 that something was under production.
It was announced that production team is looking forward to create season 5 of Haikyuu for MBS but it has been officially cancelled now.
Haikyuu won’t have a season 5.
Even though, a two part movie is under production, fans are not convinced with it. A lot of important scenes will be skipped if that happen.
If they want to wrap the remaining Hinata adventures into two movies then the story will completely lost its soul. That’s why fans are worried regarding movie announcement.
They will rush the whole story on the sake of dumping the remaining material. Nearly 110 chapters are left and two greatest matches which are about to ruined. Thanks, for releasing something.
Why is Haikyuu taking so long to return for another season?
No doubt, we love Tobie, Hinata and other male anime characters wholeheartedly but the animation takes time and you will be shocked to know that most of the animators of our favorite sports comedy anime are underpaid.
Even though, the series is booking profits, the real heroes behind the cameras are getting nothing.
Haikyuu Season 5 is also a much awaited anime with lot of hype so delivering the up-to-mark quality is another big challenge for designers.
While talking with some professionals of the industry, we found that the animators of Haikyuu countdown are severely underpaid and were bound to work for longer and longer hours in an attempt to finish their work on time.
There are almost 3000 frames in one episode and if an animator draws 300 frames a month, they can earn only 300*1.8= $540 per month.
I hope you will understand that drawing 300 pages in a single month is super hard especially for new designers and this is the harsh reality of the series.
Moreover, an animator was fired for creating an erotic scene without the consent of studio. This could be the reason why Haikyuu Season 5 is taking time.
Where to watch Haikyu anime series?
The anime series is licensed under Crunchyroll and Sentai Filmworks in North America, Animatsu Entertainment in UK, Medialink in South East Asia, and Madman Entertainment in Australasia while the original network remains MBS in Japan.
The English network is Animax Asia. If Haikyuu Season 5 comes out, it will also become available on the given platforms in respected countries.
