FILMING LOCATIONS

Where was Street Fighter (2026) Filmed? All Locations Revealed

Ryu and Ken are back. This time, their fight takes them around the world. But here’s the twist: the new Street Fighter movie was filmed largely in one Australian city.

Set in 1993, the action-packed adaptation brings the World Warrior Tournament to life with a cast that includes Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo and Jason Momoa. The story spans different corners of the globe, but Sydney, Australia, provided the backdrop for much of the action.

From the sprawling sound stages at Disney Studios Australia to the harbourfront at Luna Park and the surf of Maroubra Beach, the city helped bring the video game world to the big screen.

So, where exactly was Street Fighter filmed, which locations can you visit, and which ones are confirmed? Here’s what we know.

Where was Street Fighter (2026) filmed?

Street Fighter was filmed in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Principal photography ran from Aug 18 to Nov 12, 2025. The production was based at Disney Studios Australia in Moore Park, with IMDb also listing Luna Park, Maroubra Beach and Carriageworks.

No scenes were shot in Japan, Thailand, the US or any of the game’s other home countries. Sydney and the studio sets stand in for all of them.

Street Fighter Production Timeline

Cameras rolled for just under three months. The film was shot under the working title Punch, with Ken Seng as cinematographer, and hit cinemas 11 months after wrap.

A small trivia note: the film was first dated for March 20, 2026 with Sony. It moved to Paramount after Legendary’s Sony deal ended.

Disney Studios Australia, Moore Park

This is where most of Street Fighter was made. The production used five sound stages for principal photography and stunt rehearsals, plus offices, workshops and support spaces. It occupied the lot for about eight months, making it one of the studio’s biggest productions of 2025.

That’s more than half the building. Disney Studios Australia has nine stages in total.

The space made sense for this cast. Ryu, Ken and Chun-Li share the screen with WWE stars Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns, plus UFC champion Alexander Volkanovski. When half your cast fights for a living, you need room to rehearse.

The lot has a fun backstory too. It opened in 1998 as Fox Studios Australia, on the old Royal Agricultural Society showground. It was renamed Disney Studios Australia in 2022. So yes, Ryu threw his Hadoukens on a former farm show site.

Other popular productions filmed here:

The Matrix1999
Moulin Rouge!2001
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings2021
Thor: Love and Thunder2022

Visiting tip: It’s a working studio, not a theme park. There are no public tours. The neighbouring Entertainment Quarter and Moore Park are open to all.

Luna Park Sydney, Milsons Point

Luna Park is the most famous name on the list. It’s also the one with the biggest asterisk.

IMDb lists the harbourside amusement park as a filming location. But the only public paper trail is a cast night out. In September 2025, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (Balrog) posted video of the cast and crew enjoying the park after he booked it out for the team alone.

No outlet has confirmed which scene, if any, was shot there. So treat it as a confirmed cast visit and a reported location.

Luna Park opened in 1935 under the Harbour Bridge. Its giant smiling face entrance is a Sydney icon, and the park is on the New South Wales Heritage Register.

Visiting tip: Entry to the park grounds is free. You pay per ride. Check opening days on the official site, as hours vary by season.

Carriageworks, Eveleigh (Redfern)

Carriageworks brings the grit. Location trackers list it among the film’s sets, and its cavernous halls suit the movie’s underground fights.

Carriageworks was used to film one of the fight scenes in Street Figthter 2026 movie

The building is a former railway workshop from the late 1800s. Huge brick halls once built and repaired train carriages. Today it’s one of Sydney’s biggest arts venues.

Its raw industrial look is a natural fit for a 1993-set fighting film. Think steel beams, worn brick and lots of shadow.

Visiting tip: The Saturday farmers market is the easiest way to see inside. Exhibitions and events run through the week.

Maroubra Beach, Eastern Suburbs

Maroubra is the production’s beach. Location sites list it among the shooting spots, though no studio source has named the scene.

It’s one of Sydney’s longest eastern beaches, south of Coogee. Locals know it for strong surf and a tough-guy surf culture. That suits a franchise where fighters train by the sea.

Visiting tip: Swim between the red and yellow flags. Maroubra’s rips can be strong.

Sydney as a Whole World

The film’s story jumps across a global tournament circuit. Sydney never plays itself. It stands in for everywhere.

The NSW government’s announcement described shooting on location around the city, not just at the studio. Exact street addresses have not been published.

This isn’t the franchise’s first Australian round. The 1994 Street Fighter, with Jean-Claude Van Damme, shot largely in Queensland, with work in Bangkok too. Rival Mortal Kombat also filmed both of its recent movies in Australia.

Street Fighter Reviews and Box Office

Critics are split. Fans are kinder. The film sits around 41–42% with critics on Rotten Tomatoes, against 79% from audiences. It earned a B- CinemaScore, the same grade as the 1994 film.

Still, it’s the best-reviewed Street Fighter movie so far. That bar was low.

FilmTomatometer (Critics)
Street Fighter (1994)20%
Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li (2009)3%
Street Fighter (2026)About 41–42%

What viewers praise: the fight choreography, the 2D animated flashbacks and the soundtrack. Noah Centineo’s Ken and Andrew Koji’s Ryu have won fans too.

What critics knock: the script, the juvenile humour, and thin screen time for some characters. Some fans wanted more Chun-Li.

Opening Weekend

MeasureFigure
Global opening (Oct 16–18)$51.1 million, No. 1 worldwide
Domestic openingAbout $30–31 million
International openingAbout $21.1 million
Reported production budget$82 million
Pre-release global hopesAbout $70 million

The film topped the global chart but fell short of hopes. On its first Monday it dropped 73% and lost the US top spot to A24’s You Can See Everything.

Will there be a Street Fighter sequel?

Not confirmed yet. No sequel, release date or returning cast has been announced.

The film clearly wants one, though. It ends with M. Bison still at large. A mid-credits scene (mild spoiler) shows Bison, Cammy and Vega approaching a scarred Sagat, the very first Street Fighter boss. Some coverage describes it as an anime-style sequence.

Whether Round 2 happens will depend on how the box office holds up in the coming weeks. The 1994 film also teased a sequel that never came.
