About The Four Seasons Season 2
The Four Seasons is a Netflix comedy drama series created by Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield. It is based on Alan Alda’s 1981 film of the same name. The series follows a tight-knit group of couples who take four group vacations together every year, one for each season.
Season 2 picks up after the death of Nick (Steve Carell) and follows the remaining group as they continue their tradition without him. The cast includes Tina Fey as Kate, Will Forte as Jack, Colman Domingo as Danny, Marco Calvani as Claude, Kerri Kenney-Silver as Anne, and Erika Henningsen as Ginny. Steven Pasquale also joins as a new character named Mark Brett.

Not every interior matched its exterior. Production designer Sharon Lomofsky and set decorator Jennifer Greenberg rebuilt several indoor scenes on soundstages or in completely different New York properties dressed to match the story.

The Catskills: The Midnight Ramble Motel
The first trip of Season 2 takes the group to the Catskills to scatter Nick’s ashes. They end up stranded inside the main building of a fictional motel called the Midnight Ramble. The motel has a classic 1950s feel, with a bar, a restaurant area, and lodge-style rooms.
The restaurant of the Blue Fox Motel in Narrowsburg, New York served as the primary filming location for these scenes. The production team chose it for its large windows overlooking the road, its distance from the guest rooms, and a fireplace that suited the locked-in atmosphere. Set decorator Jennifer Greenberg sourced vintage furniture from Hudson Valley shops including the Newburgh Vintage Emporium and The Antique Warehouse to give the interior a more vivid midcentury feel.
The guest rooms seen in the show were not actually at the Blue Fox. They were built on soundstages with additional retro finds and custom murals of wolves and night sky painted on the walls. The surrounding Catskill Mountains also feature throughout the early episodes, with additional filming taking place around Cold Spring, Beacon, and Newburgh in New York’s Hudson Valley.

The Jersey Shore: Ocean Grove and Point Pleasant Beach
For the summer episodes, the group heads to the Jersey Shore. On screen, the trip centers on Point Pleasant Beach and a rented Airbnb on a residential street. The show displays Jenkinson’s Boardwalk at Point Pleasant Beach as a key landmark during the summer visit.
The actual beach house exterior was filmed in Ocean Grove, a coastal town in Monmouth County known for its Victorian architecture, wide sandy beach, and historic pier. Ocean Grove’s Ocean Pathway, a tree-lined residential road leading to the beach, appears in the episode as the street where the characters walk.

Danny and Kate also tour a large Victorian property in Ocean Grove while fantasizing about converting it into a bed and breakfast. The interiors of both properties, however, were filmed in houses in Newburgh, New York, which the production team redesigned from scratch. One house received a bright coastal makeover.
The potential B&B was stripped of its original furnishings and filled with deliberately over-the-top Victorian pieces sourced from prop houses.
The Fall Lake House: Putnam County, New York
The fall episodes return to the lake house established in Season 1. The production team researched around 100 waterfront properties in New York before settling on a home in Putnam County that was large enough to hold multiple set pieces, including a vow renewal and a pottery shed built to be destroyed on camera.
The downstairs of the property was fully redecorated for filming. The upstairs was built on soundstages. The production team sourced decor from NBCUniversal’s asset library, which included a velvet slipper chair originally used on 30 Rock.
Vassar College: The Campus Scenes
Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, New York returns in Season 2 for scenes involving the group visiting a university. The college’s red brick buildings and classic academic architecture have appeared in both seasons of the show. It stood in for the characters’ fictional alma mater during parents’ weekend in Season 1 and continues to serve a similar purpose in the new episodes.
Trento, Italy: The Italian Alps Winter Trip
The winter portion of Season 2 is the most visually ambitious stretch of the show. The group travels to the Italian Alps, and the production filmed at real locations in Trento, a historic city in the Trentino region of northern Italy.
The crew filmed at the actual Christmas market held in Trento’s Piazza del Duomo, the city’s main square. Shooting happened early in the holiday season, which meant the production team had to source large quantities of La Befana dolls as part of a running visual joke comparing the folkloric Italian figure to Anne.
The joke ran far enough that the crew commissioned a custom oversized La Befana head, estimated at five to six feet tall, from a sculptor in Rome. It was transported through Trento’s streets as part of a scene.
The running scenes featuring Will Forte’s character Jack were filmed through Alpine countryside near Trento, including areas around Monte Bondone and the Adige Valley. The wide mountain landscapes give the final episodes their quieter, more reflective tone.
The accommodation the group stays at in Italy is, on screen, a monastery converted into a city building. The interiors, however, were filmed in a rented property in Fishkill, New York, dressed with frescoes, tapestries, and furniture chosen to reflect Danny’s love of Brutalism.

New Jersey’s production landscape, supported by growing studio operations in the state, brought the Jersey Shore episodes within easy driving range of the New York crew.
Trento was chosen for its real Christmas market, its Alpine architecture, and the visual contrast it offered against the American settings used elsewhere in the season.
