Firestarter 2022 is an American sci-fi horror film directed by Keith Thomas from a screenplay by Scott Teens. Based on the novel of the same name by Stephen King, the film serves as a reboot to the 1984 film adaptation of the same novel.
The film continues the story of the novel right after first movie ended, the plot of this movie follows a father who must protect his daughter from secret govt agency after she develops pyrokinesis. Produced by Jason Blum and Akiva Goldsman under Blumhouse Productions, Boulderlight Pictures, Angry Adam Productions, and Weed Road Pictures, the distribution rights are owned by Universal Pictures.
Firestarter 2022 Filming Locations
Firestarter 2022 was filmed in Burlington and Hamilton inside Ontario province of Canada. According to cinematographer Karim Hussain, the principal filming began on 25 May 2021 and wrapped up on 16 July 2021 within the same province. Zac Efron shared the photograph on the last day of filming on Twitter.

Aeon Bayfront Studios located at 243 Queen Street N, Hamilton is the original studio which was used for filming numerous indoor scenes. Moreover, Lewiston Elementary school located at 235 Bowman Street was prepared for the shooting purposes. The plaza featured in the film is located at Plains Road E inside Aldershot, Burlington. Another location used inside Burlington is Shaw Street and Victoria Ave N.
Some scenes were also filmed at Morgan Firestone Arena – 385 Jerseyville Road W inside Ancaster, Ontario. The Dundas Valley Conservation Area of Dundas region was also utilized for the filming along with Flamborough where the farm scenes were filmed. Specifically, the farm scene took place at Valens Road and Safari Road of Flamborough.

Firestarter 2022 movie will start premiering inside US cinemas and Peacock after its official release on 13 May 2022. The movie will be released exclusively inside the movie theaters throughout the world but US viewers can watch the film on the same day of release on NBC’s ad supported network Peacock. The international distribution rights to stream the movie are owned by Universal Pictures.
Synopsis
Firestarter is the story of a young girl, Charlie(Ryan Kiera Armstrong) who got supernatural powers with the help of pyrokinesis but due to her extraordinary ability, she becomes vulnerable to evil persons. And the government agents started pursuing her to use her powers for their personal benefits without caring for her life. The father, Andrew(Zac Efron) must protect her daughter from falling into the hands of authorities or anyone who can misuse her.
