The show is an exploration inside the happy lives of The Duggars and a thorough investigation into the Institute in Basic Life Principles (IBLP). For those who don’t know, IBLP is a controversial fundamentalist organization and a homeschooling empire.

While most of the series focuses on Duggars, 19 Kids and Counting stars, it does give us insight into Basic Life Principles through the mouth of some brave survivors who managed to come out safely to reveal that it was like a nightmare.
