WHERE TO WATCH

Where to Watch Scrubs (2026): Every Season, Platform & Country

If you’ve spent any time on social media lately, you’ve probably noticed the internet buzzing with talk of J.D., Turk, Elliot, and Dr. Cox. After more than a decade off the air, one of television’s most beloved medical comedies has made its triumphant return. Whether you’re a die-hard fan who has watched every episode at least three times or a curious newcomer wondering what all the fuss is about, you’ve landed in the right place.

About Scrubs

Scrubs is an American medical comedy-drama known for its fast-paced humor and surreal dream sequences. Most of the show is presented as the daydreams of the main character, John “J.D.” Dorian, played by Zach Braff. Created by Bill Lawrence, who also made Ted Lasso, the show put a fresh spin on the hospital drama format.

The main cast for seasons one through eight included Braff, Sarah Chalke, Donald Faison, Ken Jenkins, John C. McGinley, and Judy Reyes, with Neil Flynn joining as a main cast member in season two. The show also featured memorable guest appearances from Brendan Fraser, Michael J. Fox, Heather Graham, and Colin Farrell.

Scrubs ran from October 2001 to May 2009, moving from NBC to ABC in January 2009. The season eight finale was written and filmed as a series ending. A ninth season followed before the show was cancelled in May 2010. Now, sixteen years later, Sacred Heart Hospital is open again, and fans couldn’t be happier.

The Complete Season-by-Season Breakdown

All episode titles begin with the word “My,” unless the episode is narrated by someone other than J.D., in which case it’s called “His Story,” “Her Story,” or “Their Story.” Season 9 episodes use “Our” instead of “My.”

What is the Revival Actually About?

Since leaving Sacred Heart in 2009, J.D. became a private doctor for wealthy clients in San DiFrangeles, California. In 2026, he ends up back at Sacred Heart for a patient and finds Dr. Cox, still Chief of Medicine, struggling to connect with a younger, more HR-aware generation of doctors.

Zach Braff returns as J.D., now the new Chief of Medicine, Elliot’s ex-husband, and a father. The revival keeps the heart and humor fans loved, but adds a more honest look at what medicine looks like today.

The Road to the Revival

Talk of a revival has been going around since the show ended in 2010. A big moment came on November 17, 2018, when the full cast held a reunion panel hosted by Vulture. The 2020 podcast “Fake Doctors, Real Friends with Zach and Donald” kept the interest alive, and in July 2025, ABC officially greenlit a nine-episode revival season.

Filming started in October 2025 in Vancouver and wrapped in December 2025, on sets built to look like the original North Hollywood Medical Center used in the first eight seasons.

Scrubs by the Numbers: Awards and Legacy

The show received strong reviews throughout its run and earned 17 Emmy Award nominations, including two for Outstanding Comedy Series. It also won a George Foster Peabody Award in 2006, plus Emmy wins for picture editing (2005) and sound mixing (2007).

The show’s staying power shows in its streaming numbers too. Scrubs sits at #113 on the JustWatch Daily Streaming Charts and is currently more popular on US streaming charts than Dexter.

The Podcast: Fake Doctors, Real Friends

If you’ve finished all the episodes and want more, the “Fake Doctors, Real Friends” podcast is worth checking out. Hosted by Zach Braff and Donald Faison, it ran from 2020 to 2025 as a rewatch podcast. All episodes are still available on Spotify and other podcast apps. The two share behind-the-scenes stories and commentary that even longtime fans probably haven’t heard.
