Cobra Kai Season 6 has started filming on Jan 6, 2024 in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. This is going to be the finale season of the martial arts series.
After five successful seasons, Cobra Kai is set to wrap up with its sixth and final season. The popular Karate Kid sequel series has created a huge fanbase over the last six years.
Now, fans are eager to see how the story of LaRusso, Johny Lawrence, and Amanda LaRusso concludes.
Though, few details have been revealed so far, here is everything we know about the final season of the series.
Cobra Kai Season 6 Filming Begins
After a brief hiatus, filming for Season 6 officially kicked off in January 2024 in Atlanta, Georgia just as with past seasons.
Co-creator Josh Hurwitz tweeted from the set, “Amazing being back on set with the Cobra Kai family this week. So many hugs and laughs.”
So far, returning cast members William Zabka (Johnny) and Ralph Macchio (Daniel) have been spotted on set filming key scenes.
More specific plot details are being kept tightly under wraps by the show’s producers for now but here’re some of the recent facts shared by the showrunner Josh Hurwitz:
➡️ The directors of “Cobra Kai” are NOT officially involved in the new “Karate Kid” movie, but they hope the movie will be a success.
➡️ On the first day of filming, a scene was recorded between two characters very dear to the director, who had never interacted before.
➡️ The directors are actively working on stories with potential about the Miyagi-Verse, but have nothing to announce for now.
➡️ We will have the most EPIC fight in season six.
➡️ We will see fights between characters who have never faced each other before, and we will also have revenge.
New Cast and Characters
Exciting news for Karate Kid fans – according to early reports, Season 6 will see the return of Chozen, Daniel’s old rival from Karate Kid II.
Played by Yuji Okumoto, Chozen hasn’t been seen on Cobra Kai since his guest appearance in Season 3. His comeback hints at more Okinawa-related plotlines to wrap up Daniel’s journey.
Other newcomers to the cast are yet to be announced. However, given this is the final bow, we wouldn’t be surprised if more familiar Karate Kid faces show up to send the series off.
The main cast of Cobra Kai Season 6 includes:
- Ralph Macchio as Daniel LaRusso
- William Zabka as Johnny Lawrence
- Courtney Henggeler as Amanda LaRusso
- Xolo Maridueña as Miguel Diaz
- Peyton List as Tory Nichols
- Martin Cove as John Kreese
- Tanner Buchanan as Robby Keene
- Mary Mouser as Samantha LaRusso
Cobra Kai Season 6 Trailer
No official trailer or teaser footage has dropped yet. We likely won’t get a first look at Season 6 until mid-to-late 2024. Once Netflix releases a trailer, it will offer clues regarding the expected storyline and conflict in the final episodes.
What to expect from Cobra Kai Season 6?
Season 5 ended on a cliffhanger with Terry Silver rigging the All Valley Tournament allowing Cobra Kai to reign supreme. This outcome will have major ramifications moving forward.
Also, John Kreese escaped prison putting many characters at risk. The overall feud between Daniel, Johnny, and their dojos will undoubtedly escalate heading into the finale.
Since this will be Cobra Kai’s last season, expect all rivalries to come to an emotional, hard-hitting climax.
Major story arcs for core characters like Johnny, Daniel, Miguel, Robby and Samantha will reach their conclusions.
And by the end, the future of Cobra Kai and Miyagi-Do karate will be decided. In a nutshell, Cobra Kai Season 6 is going to be rollercoaster of emotions for fans, but with an open ending, so that filmmakers can continue the storyline with a movie.
Cobra Kai Season 6 Release Date and Time
We still don’t have an official release date for Cobra Kai Season 6 yet. The martial arts comedy drama series was renewed for a final season in Jan 2023, and the filming was scheduled to begin later in the same year, but that didn’t happen because of strikes.
The shooting was halted due to the combined impact of the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike and the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Finally, the shooting resumed in Jan 2024 and is currently ongoing in Atlanta.
Based on production schedules for past seasons, we can expect the new episodes to drop sometime in late 2024 or early 2025. The season will have 10 episodes in total. However, Netflix has yet to confirm anything official, regarding premiere dates.
