Black Clover season 5 is creating buzz among dark fantasy anime fans. The news come out from the official production house right after the season 4 premiere in March 2021 and now fans are impatiently waiting for another installment of Black Clover.
The adventure fantasy anime television series is directed by Tatsuya Yoshihara and Ayataka Tanemura, written by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu and Kanichi Katou, and produced by Pierrot animation Studio (known for Bleach new season, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Tokyo Ghoul).
Based on the Japanese manga adaptation of the same name written and illustrated by Yuki Tabata, the series follows a young orphan named Asta who is born without magical powers in the new world and aims to become the next wizard king.
When is Black clover season 5 coming out?
Unfortunately, Black Clover Season 5 is not coming out because the fourth season was confirmed to be the last season of the series.
Black Clover anime series started airing in 2017 after running for around four years, the creators decided to cancel the series with a final movie announcement in 2021 due to shortage of manga material.
However, that was about 2021 when there were only 27 volumes at the time of cancellation. In 2023, there are many more chapters available that are left to be adapted.
Now, they can’t complain of shortage of manga material and hopefully, we will hear an official announcement regarding the arrival of fifth season. We don’t want to say goodbye to our favorite series, it was already hard to bid the farewell to Hunter X Hunter Season 7, that is not happening now.
When does the Black Clover movie come out?
The movie titled Black Clover: Sword of the Wizard King has been released on 16 June 2023 for Netflix subscribers inside US, UK, and other western countries while it is currently airing in Japanese cinemas.
In this movie, we will be able to see the adaptation of 20 remaining chapters of the manga series after the conclusion of episode 170 of the fantasy adventure anime series.
Where to watch Black Clover anime?
All four seasons of Black Clover are available to stream on Netflix, Crunchyroll, and Funimation inside the United States. The movie is only streaming on Netflix.
You can either watch english subbed versions with original Japanese audio or Eng dubbed version with full English audio and subtitles.
Why was Black Clover cancelled?
Black Clover anime was cancelled after season 4 due to lack of manga material. The manga is having a total of 301 chapters, out of which 171 chapters have been already adapted into four seasons.
It seems that the manga is left with 30 chapters which are not enough to produce a new season. Our hopes are up because manga is still ongoing.
Moreover, drop in manga sales is another season behind the show’s cancellation. The 33rd manga volume come out in Nov 2023 but the manga sales doesn’t even cross the 20 million mark after its release and even today in June 2023, the manga has sold 19 million copies worldwide.
However, the show’s revival depends on the mood of creators and they can bring a new season out of nowhere but chances of renewal are pretty slim.
That’s why the show makers decided to make a movie instead. This film will figure out if the anime deserves renewal or not.
If they will get sufficient achievement with the movie then we will be able to see Black Clover season 5 otherwise just go to sleep.
How many seasons of Black Clover are there?
Currently, Black Clover anime is having four seasons which are available to stream on Funimation and Adult Swim. In terms of episodes, 170 episodes are available.
Two seasons are having 51 episodes, third season is having 52 episodes while the fourth season is having only 16 episodes with an average runtime of 23 minutes.
Black Clover season 5 release date isn’t announced yet so that we can include it in our list.

An official announcement trailer has been released for Black Clover movie but not for Black Clover Season 5. The promotional video shows that the film is scheduled to premiere sometime in 2023.
What to expect from Black Clover Season 5?
The finale episode ended with Nacht teasing that only a few days are left to train before attacking the Spade Kingdom to stop the advent of Qliphoth.
So, we can expect to see some intense training of Liebe and Asta before joining the attack on Spade Kingdom.
Even after hard training, Asta is not fit for battle so Nacht tells him that he will join the battle later. However, an impatient Asta will definitely find his way to join Nacht on his way to the Spade Kingdom because he already know his plan.
Meanwhile, Asta will learn using magic tools from Makusa who is an expert in such research. Preparations will also happen inside the Spade Kingdom.
Moris notice the resistance arrival and Albert will come to speak about the dark triad. Finally, we get to see some action filled scenes inside the Spade Kingdom.
Since the kingdom is huge, Nacht Faust will infiltrate into the castle as team. The Black Clover New Season anime will be full of surprises and emotional rollercoasters that will keep you entertained.
