The Midnight Club is an American teen mystery-thriller series created by Mike Flanagan (Haunting of Hill House) and Leah Fong for Netflix.
It stars seven close terminally ill young adults residing in the hospice who come together at a horror club to share their scariest experiences.
The story is adapted from the 1994 book of the same name as movie written by Christopher Pike and the series production is done under Intrepid Pictures in collaboration with Field House Productions ULC and Netflix.
Where was ‘The Midnight Club’ filmed?
The Midnight Club Netflix series was filmed in Burnaby and Vancouver City of British Columbia, Canada during summer 2021. Filming began on 15 March 2021 and wrapped up on 10 Sep 2021 within the districts of British Columbia.
Mike Flanagan shared on Twitter in March 2021 that the principal filming has begun in the lower mainland region of British Columbia. The filming took place throughout the summer in the member municipality of metro Vancouver.
Even though, the show sets in the Rotterdam that is located in Netherlands, the actual filming was done inside Canada only. The Northwestern Europe country is not included in the shoot location for this horror series.
The Ladner village is featured in the episode 7 of the series that is located on the banks of the Fraser River. It was originally created as a fishing village and like many surrounding areas around the river, the place was named for the original Europeans settle there.
A team member revealed that the village perfectly meet up to their expectations. They were in need of three empty storefronts that they can thoroughly decorate, and the location was a perfect fit where lots of apartments were empty.
Moreover, some shooting was done at the Ladner United Church and Spanish Banks beaches of Vancouver, the favorite filming location among filmmakers. Those who are planning to visit Brightcliffe Hospice will be shocked to know that the place doesn’t exist in real life.
Most of the Hallmark films took place in Canada such as Pumpkin Everything, Game Set Love, Mid-Love Crisis, Coyote Creek, and several horror movies Monster High, Halloween Ends, Barbarian, etc.

Review
Honestly, the series is not as good as Bly Manor, Hill House or Midnight Mass but still it’s a good teen drama if we remove the horror element. Even though, the trailer looks promising, the series deserves 7 out of 10 rating and this is because Flanagan has done an excellent job.
You will lots of people saying that the series is best while others are panning it with all the negative reviews. But the truth is, it depends on how you see it. If you are a teenager and wants to explore new adventures with some thrill, then this might be a good fit.
On the other hand, if you have grown up watching Conjuring, The Exorcist, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, or Stephen King Movies then you will notice that the horror part is missing. That cartoon faces don’t haunt us anymore, but the building of plot is superb and that’s why the series deserves a watch if you are a teenager.
