The Storied Life of AJ Fikry is a 2022 comedy drama film directed by Hans Canosa from the New York Times best-selling novel of the same name by Gabrielle Zevin.
It stars Kunal Nayyar in the lead role of A.J. Fikry, a depressed bookstore owner whose life is not going the way he expected and he is struggling financially. His life problems kept on piling after the tragic death of his wife.
The film is produced by Kelsey Law under BCDF Pictures, Empathy Machines, Three Point Capital, and Vertical Entertainment while the distribution is done by A24.

The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry was filmed in Hyannis and Yarmouthport inside the US state of Massachusetts. Principal photography began in November 2021 and wrapped up at in December 2021.
Director Hans said that filming the movie version of coastal Massachusetts was always the plan. The fictional setting of Alice Island is set in Cape Cod, a peninsula that is extending into the Atlantic ocean from the southeastern corner of mainland MA.
The crew spent 20 days of shooting at Cape Cod for the filming of The Storied Life of AJ Fikry. Moreover, Cape Cod Times also shared some photos while the filming was ongoing.
One scene features actor Kunal turning the corner from Pearl Street onto main street. The Main street of Hyannis was closed during morning hours and that’s why the crew moved up and down the street. Other regional locations include Parnassus Book Store and Unitarian Church of Barnstable.
Director Hans shared a photo on Instagram where the crew can be seen filming the scenes outside Parnassus Book Store in the Yarmouth Port during December 2021. The filming finally wrapped after one month and a few days hard work.

The Storied Life of AJ Fikry is another good dramedy film adapted from a book. Its incredible cast has done a phenomenal job that has brought all the fictional characters to life. What an epic way of telling story.
Director Hans Canoas and author Gabrielle Zevin had also worked together 17 years ago to produce split-screen masterpiece Conversations With Other Women(2005 film).
Helena Bonham Carter won the best actress award for that romantic drama film in 2007 because of brilliant dialogues and superb acting. Now, there is another movie in the form of The Storied Life of AJ Fikry with Kunal Nayyar and Christina Hendricks in the main cast.
