Lou is a 2022 action thriller film directed by German borne American cinematographer Anna Foerster from the screenplay written by Jack Stanley and Maggie Cohn for Netflix.
The mystery crime drama is about the mother of a young girl who gets kidnapped. Her mother left with no choice but to team up with another strange woman that lives to her next door.
Produced by JJ Abrams, Hannah Minghella, and Joe Cohen under Bad Robot Productions, the film was released on 23 Sep 2022 by the original distributor Netflix.
Lou Movie Filming Locations
Lou movie was primarily filmed at Vancouver Film Studios inside Vancouver district of British Columbia, Canada. Principal filming began on 11 May 2020 and halted on 2 July 2020 because of Covid-19 restrictions and lockdown.
The movie sets in San Juan Country and Orcas Islands of Seattle, Washington, United States but the actual filming was done inside Canada. Most of the scenes were shot within the Vancouver Studios located at 3500 Cornett Road while a few scenes were shot on Vancouver Islands.
Director Anna revealed to Vancouver SUN that the courtesy of Ucluelet was used in place of Washington’s largest San Juan Islands, Orcas Island. The weather of this Canadian Island stands in for the Orcas and that’s why it was utilized for shooting purposes.
Originally, Paramount was in charge of the film’s production until Bad Robot comes into play and decided to make the film independently. What’s on Netflix reported that the film entered into the post production by Netflix in June 2021 and wrapped up in August 2021.

Synopsis
The secret island movie follows a mother Hannah Dawson(played by Jurnee Smollett) whose young daughter is kidnapped by her father. Hannah left with no choice but to beg her mysterious landlord Lou to accompany her in the journey to bring her daughter back home.
However, the landlord is of reserved nature and she doesn’t allow anyone to pierce through her hard shell but she also owns special hiking skills and tracking abilities. The movie will give you the feel of a feminist revenge thriller with a lot of action and suspense.
