What Will Happen in The Chosen Season 6?
This is the season we have all been both dreading and yearning for in our souls.
Season 6 is going to cover the 24 hours that make up Good Friday: Jesus has been arrested after being betrayed by Judas, and his followers scatter knowing they could be next.

The official synopsis reads: “The hour has come. Before the sun sets, Jesus of Nazareth will be dead. Season Six captures the historic events of Jesus’ final day through the lives of those who love Him – and those who condemn Him. Pharisees call it justice. Romans call it peace. Followers call it murder. But in the face of loneliness and death, Jesus stands resolute in his plan that has always led to one place: the cross.”
Dallas Jenkins has described Season 6 as exploring far more than Christ’s death alone, calling it “the story of humanity” and emphasizing that the season will portray not only the crucifixion itself, but the need for it – the deep history of humanity that reveals why it had to take place, The Lion revealed.

Jenkins also said Season 6 is “really a lot about surrender,” watching Jesus ultimately surrender to something extraordinarily painful, while the disciples – confused, broken, and wondering – must surrender too. Jenkins hopes viewers leave the season asking themselves, “Can you surrender even when you don’t always understand?”
What Are the Cast Saying About Season 6?
The cast’s behind-the-scenes accounts have already moved many hearts. Noah James, who plays Andrew, said that after reading the Season 6 scripts, he spent two days on his couch weeping. He described it as “brutal, but surprising” and said it could turn out to be some viewers’ favorite season, as per Deseret News coverage.

Abe Bueno-Jallad, who portrays Big James, said he had “never seen the cast so focused” and that everybody was carrying a heavy burden as actors, all there for each other.
Jonathan Roumie himself has shared that the experience of portraying the Passion of Christ left a permanent mark on him. He told EWTN News that for months after filming, going to Mass would move him to tears, and that sharing even a fraction of the Lord’s passion left him “absolutely humbled.”

The Chosen Season 6 and the Amazon MGM Deal
In 2025, Amazon MGM Studios signed a first-look deal with 5&2 Studios, which provides Prime Video with streaming rights to the first five seasons of The Chosen, the new unscripted series The Chosen in the Wild with Bear Grylls, The Chosen Adventures, and Joseph of Egypt. The deal also includes theatrical and streaming rights to the final two seasons – covering the crucifixion (Season 6) and the resurrection (Season 7), as per Deadline.
The show’s newest season comes after a record-breaking box office run, with The Chosen collectively earning more than $139 million at the worldwide box office to date. God’s work is clearly reaching the world in ways no one initially expected.
A Note on What Season 6 Means for All of Us
It is difficult not to feel the weight of what is coming. We have walked with Jesus and His disciples through healings, miracles, laughter, and heartbreak across five seasons. We have cried with Peter, been surprised by Matthew, and been inspired by Mary Magdalene. And now we are arriving at the moment that changed all of human history – the cross.

“Everyone knows the basics of this part of the story,” Jenkins has said, “but not everyone knows the ‘why’ of the crucifixion and the extraordinary events of these 24 hours.”
That “why” is what we have been building toward all along. The love. The sacrifice. The surrender.
Whether you are a lifelong believer or someone who wandered into this series curious about the man from Nazareth, Season 6 of The Chosen is going to leave a mark on your soul.
