Fallout is an American TV series developed by Graham Wagner and Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Raider reboot, Captain Marvel) for Amazon Prime Video.
It stars Ella Purnell and Aaron Moten in the lead roles of Lucy and Maximus (Brotherhood of Steel), along with others.
Based on the role-playing video game franchise on the same name by Bethesda Softworks, the show follows a brave teenage girl name Lucy, who decides to search for her father in the middle of dangerous wastelands in LA.
Even though, this Prime Video show takes us through the post-apocalyptic Los Angeles with its filming locations, the actual shooting was done in other parts of the United States and a South African country.

The Fallout series was filmed across New York, New Jersey, Nevada, and Utah inside the United States, along with Namibia in Southern Africa.
Principal shooting for the Fallout series began on June 20, 2022 and wrapped after nine months of filming on March 24, 2023, as per the filming dates mentioned by IMDb.
New York, USA
The Ghoul’s Grave, the place where Cooper Howard transforms into a ghoul in Fallout, is located in Fort Totten Park in Queens, New York.
It’s a former Civil War fortress that has been transformed into a public park, where you can enjoy special events that happened throughout the year.
This is such an amazing place to visit if you wanna look into the past of New York without missing the fun. On hot days, you can take a dip in the pool and sunbathe around its grassy edges while in winters, you can enjoy looking at migratory birds.
The Red Rocked Gas Station, which appears in the seventh episode of the show, is located in Nyack, Rockland County, as per IMDb.
According to local reports, the production team used a former ShopRite grocery store on Hylan Boulevard in New Dorp, Staten Island as the filming location for the Super Duper Mart in the series.
The store, previously situated at 2424 Hylan Boulevard, has since been vacated by ShopRite, which relocated to a different shopping center in the area, allowing the filming crew to transform the space into the iconic Fallout location.
Its building looked like a rundown grocery store with Super-Duper Mart and “SD” written across, the same report said. A user also posted a short clip on YouTube, touring the empty production set.
Since the report dates back to July 2022, we can say that the initial phase of shooting was done in New York. The Gamer also reported that the filming for the Amazon show Fallout began in late June 2022, throughout New York City.
The haunting scene featuring the gulper monster on Hollywood Boulevard was filmed in the Cortlandt Quarry on the Hudson River, while the cave scenes were filmed at the Widow Jane Mine in New York.
The ominous Enclave facility, where Dr. Siggi Wilzig examines puppies in Fallout, was filmed in the iconic Brooklyn Army Terminal Building in Sunset Park, according to Atlas of Wonders.
This Art Deco-style structure served as a crucial military supply base during World War II and has since been repurposed for various commercial and industrial uses.
Vault-Tech headquarters tower was recreated at Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service in West Harrison, New York. Many additions were made using CGI, like an extra tower, smooth transition, and circles, during post production

New Jersey, USA
The entrance to the town of Filly was filmed in a private airplane graveyard in the New Jersey Pine Barrens.
Nevada, USA
The Mojave Desert, located in Sierra Mountains, served as the perfect backdrop for many of the Wasteland scenes in Fallout series.
Utah, USA
The Brotherhood of Steel’s headquarters was filmed at the old Wendover Air Force Base in Utah. During World War II, this base was the training centre for the team that dropped the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Today, the base has been modified into a museum, and has been open to the public. Visitors can explore the Enola Gay hangar and learn about this important moment in history.
Namibia, South Africa
The eerie desert scenes where Lucy encounters the shipwreck in Fallout series were filmed in Namibia. This real-life German cargo ship, partially buried by sand, creates an unsettling backdrop for the show.
If you go into the history, you’ll find that Eduard Bohlen was a German cargo ship that was wrecked on the Skeleton Coast of Southwest Africa on Sep 5, 1909 in a thick fog.
The houses buried in sand are located in the Elizabeth Bay Ghost Town, a real Namibian settlement deserted due to harsh conditions.
Similarly, the house scenes of the man who wants to marry Lucy were filmed at the Kolmanskop ghost town, another popular tourist destination in Namibia, known for its dilapidated and sand-covered buildings.

What is the plot?
