Demon Slayer Season 4 announced, will cover Hashira Training Arc

The news is official, Demon Slayer Season 4 has been confirmed!

The announcement was made after the grand premiere of Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 11 on 18 June 2023.

As the final episode of season 3 marks the end of Swordsmith Village Arc, the fourth season is going to cover the “Hashira Training Arc”, the official announcement reads.

Let’s see everything in detail.

Demon Slayer Season 4 Announcement

The Swordsmith Village Arc finale episode premiered on 18 June 2023 at 11:55 PM JST on Fuji TV inside Japan. It was 70-minute long and was filled with lots of action and emotional scenes.

Just after a few hours of original premiere in Japan, Ufotable released a short promotional video teasing the next arc of the Demon Slayer anime, that is Hashira Training Arc.

Season 4 was already speculated to be in development as the information was leaked by some avid manga leakers and now, the original studio has made the official announcement with key visuals featuring five new Hashiras including the strongest Gyomei and Mitsuri’s love interest Serpent Hashira.

Character designer and chief animation designer Akira Matsushima has drew all the teaser visuals. As you can see above, all the Hashiras have got their separate frame.

Starting from the top left corner, we have Giyu Tomioka, one demon slayer branding poster, Shinobu Kocho, Gyomei Himejima, Sanemi Shinazugawa, and Iguro Obanai in the bottom right.

How many episodes will season 4 have?

The episode count is not yet confirmed but we can expect it to have the same number of episodes as Swordsmith Village arc because we also have Infinity Castle sub-arc in line that require an entire season to adapt.

Moreover, the final war with Muzan arc is said to be the longest arc of Demon Slayer manga and it might be splitted into two cours to take the level of fans excitement to a brand new level

Demon Slayer Season 4 Release Date and Time

The fourth season has just announced with some cool visuals but there are no words on its release date but we can take an idea from the previous release schedules.

Season 3 was announced in the same manner in Feb 2022 and it started premiering from 9 April 2023 with a 49 minute special. The season wrapped with a whopping 70-minute episode in the same year.

Now, we have a season 4 that has been announced in June 2023. So, we can expect Demon Slayer season 4 to be released around August 2024. It will have 11 episodes (not confirmed).

Demon Slayer Season 3 Episode 11 Recap

The episode titled ‘A Connected Bond: Daybreak and First Light’ begins with Tanjiro catching Hantengu through his Hinokami Kagura and Thunder Breathing technique. When Tanjiro was about to slay the neck of demon, he grew into a larger clone of himself and try to harm Tanjiro.

Eventually, the demon falls off through a cliff with Tanjiro and as they landed, Tanjiro takes the ancient sword of Muichiro and slayed the Upper rank four demon. As Tanjiro sees dawn approaching, he rushes towards Nezuko to save her from sunlight. Then, he realize that the demon he slayed was not actual Hantengu but one of his manifestation.

Nezuko begins to burn with sunlight and suddenly Tanjiro freezes on seeing this condition of his sister while the demon is still alive. Tanjiro got consciousness when Nezuko kicks him and finally he expose the real Hantengu to sunlight who was hiding behind a clone. To his surprise, Nezuko is no longer burning in the sunlight.

Then, some flashbacks of Muzan are shown through Hantengu’s mind. We see Muzan realizing that his goal to conquer the sun can be fulfilled by devouring Nezuko. Muzan was a sickly young man from Heian period who killed his doctor because of seeing no signs of recovery.

However, he later realized that the doctor has actually saved his life but left him unable to walk in sunlight. Thousands of years have been passed and Muzan is still not able to find the Blue Spider Lily that can help him winning against the sun.
