Was Toast to Italy filmed in Civita di Bagnoregio?
Civita di Bagnoregio is associated with the film’s Italian location story, but the strongest official filming notice I found specifically confirms Orvieto.
That distinction matters.
The Comune di Orvieto confirms that the production had several Italian locations and that Orvieto was one of them. However, I could not find a comparable May 2026 filming notice from the Comune di Bagnoregio naming Toast to Italy.
So if you are visiting the area because of the movie, Orvieto is the location with the clearest public filming confirmation.
Civita is still worth adding to the trip.
Civita di Bagnoregio: the “Dying City”
Civita di Bagnoregio is one of central Italy’s most unusual villages. It is often called the “Dying City” because of the erosion affecting the tufa hill beneath it. The village is in the province of Viterbo, in Lazio. Visitors reach it by crossing a long pedestrian bridge. The Italian national tourism site describes the bridge as the only way into the village. It is about 300 meters long and leads to Porta Santa Maria.

The village is small, so it is best explored on foot.

The bridge itself is pedestrian-only.
Comfortable shoes are a good idea. The route includes slopes and the walk across the bridge is exposed.

Where is Orvieto?
Orvieto is in Umbria, roughly between Rome and Florence.
The city is well connected by train. Orvieto’s railway station is down in Orvieto Scalo, below the historic center.
From the station, visitors can take the funicular toward the upper town.
The official Duomo site recommends the Campo della Fiera parking area for drivers. From there, visitors can use the escalators or lift toward the historic center.

Is Orvieto worth visiting?
Absolutely, Orvieto works well as a short Italy trip.
The city combines medieval streets, wine, food and major historic sights. The Duomo is the obvious first stop.
You can then walk toward Fortezza Albornoz and explore the old town.
Civita di Bagnoregio makes a good second stop if you have more time.
The two destinations are close enough to combine in a wider Umbria-Lazio itinerary.
