FX confirmed on May 6 that the Bear Season 5 will be its last. All eight episodes land on Hulu on June 25 at 9 p.m. ET, with the full season available to stream at once.
Season 4 ended with Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) quitting. Not stepping back, not taking a break. He rewrote the partnership agreement, handed the restaurant to Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), and left the food industry.
Season 5 picks up the next morning, with Sydney, Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and Natalie (Abby Elliott) holding the bill on a restaurant with no money, a potential sale hanging over them, and a storm rolling into Chicago before they can run one last service and chase the Michelin star the place has never earned.
The Cast of Bear Season 5
Jeremy Allen White is back, though the story has moved past Carmy as its center. Lionel Boyce, Liza Colón-Zayas, Edwin Lee Gibson, and Matty Matheson return alongside the full ensemble. Jamie Lee Curtis, Oliver Platt, Will Poulter, and Ricky Staffieri are in recurring roles. Jon Bernthal appears in flashbacks, as he has in every season since season 1.
Watch “Gary” First
FX dropped a standalone episode on Hulu in early May, a prequel called “Gary.” Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Jon Bernthal co-wrote it and star in it. The episode follows Richie and Mikey on a trip to Gary, Indiana, years before the show’s present timeline, and ends with Richie’s car spinning out on a wet road at night. That image connects directly to the storm in season 5. Watch it before June 25 if you haven’t.
Season 4 ended with Carmy deciding to leave The Bear the moment it achieved stability or a Michelin star. His exit, framed as an act of self-preservation, left Sydney, Richie, and Natalie to absorb the shock and face what comes next.

Why Season 5 exists?
The Bear was originally conceived as a four-season story. Season 4’s finale was called “Goodbye,” and it played like one. FX renewed it anyway, less than a week after the season 4 premiere on June 25, 2025.
The show’s center of gravity has been shifting for two seasons. Sydney has grown into a chef who consistently outworks and outthinks Carmy in the kitchen. Richie found a reason to care about the restaurant for the first time. Natalie built the business side from scratch. Carmy’s exit doesn’t undo any of that. It hands the final episode to the people who earned it.
Jamie Lee Curtis posted about the ending in March 2026, after filming wrapped, before FX said anything official. She wrote that the cast had finished strong and completed the story.
