Hallmark’s Countdown to Christmas 2025 lineup is filled with cozy, heartfelt stories—and Merry Christmas Ted Cooper stands right at the center of it. Starring fan-favorite Robert Buckley (The Christmas House, An Unexpected Valentine) and the ever-charming Kimberley Sustad (North to Home, Three Wise Men and a Baby), this festive romance blends humor, holiday spirit, and a little chaos—all wrapped up with a bow of second chances.
Directed by Hallmark veteran Jason Bourque, and produced by Kristofer McNeely and Jenni Baynham, this cheerful drama follows a weatherman determined to turn his bad Christmas luck around—only to find that love might be the biggest forecast of all.
Merry Christmas Ted Cooper Filming Locations
Like many of Hallmark’s holiday favorites, Merry Christmas, Ted Cooper! was filmed across Vancouver and the Lower Mainland region of British Columbia, Canada. The shooting happened during June-July 2025, as per local media outlets.

The production kicked off the second week of June (around June 9) and wrapped on July 27, 2025, right before the city’s summer heat peaked. Though, on set, it looked like the middle of a snow-dusted December!
Vancouver, British Columbia
Vancouver, often dubbed “Hollywood North,” once again proved to be the perfect Christmas backdrop. Streets around Gastown and North Vancouver were transformed into the charming small town of Lackawanna, New York, where the story takes place.
Fake snow, twinkling lights, and festive storefronts were added to bring Ted Cooper’s holiday comeback story to life. Vancouver’s residential areas, with their cozy suburban feel and evergreen surroundings, doubled perfectly for the Cooper family neighborhood.
Several indoor scenes including Ted’s family home and the local Urgent Care clinic where he has a run-in with his former teacher were filmed on sets around Langley and Burnaby, both well-known filming spots for Hallmark movies.
Local film crews reported seeing the cast shooting scenes in quaint, snow-decorated streets near the Commercial Drive area and around Ladner Village, both popular choices for Christmas productions (like A Royal Montana Christmas) due to their small-town aesthetic.
Lower Mainland, British Columbia
The Lower Mainland served as an additional backdrop for scenic shots and outdoor scenes—especially those involving Ted’s clumsy but lovely holiday accidents.
Behind the Scenes
Director Jason Bourque, who has helmed several Hallmark hits including A Christmas Carousel and Love on the Air, brings his signature festive flair to this production. Filming in the heart of summer meant turning sunlit Vancouver streets into snowy wonderlands, a challenge the crew handled with plenty of artificial snow and Christmas cheer.
Executive producers Kristofer McNeely and Jenni Baynham ensured the shoot stayed true to Hallmark’s signature “small-town warmth meets heartfelt humor” formula. Locals spotted the crew filming late-night scenes with glowing Christmas lights and even a romantic snowfall finale (with snow cannons working overtime).
Buckley, who also served as a producer, reportedly had a blast behind the scenes—often joking about doing his own “Christmas stunt work” during Ted’s clumsy scenes.
Sustad, who rarely shares anything over social media also posted a funny clip of Buckley dancing wearing a snowman costume.

What Is Merry Christmas Ted Cooper About?
Ted Cooper (Robert Buckley) loves Christmas as his favorite time of year, but lately, the holidays have been nothing but bad luck. From heartbreaks to injuries, his last three Christmases have been disasters. This year, though, he’s convinced things will be different.
When Ted heads back to his hometown of Lackawanna, New York, he’s ready for a clean slate. But the moment he arrives at his sister Kate’s house, disaster strikes, literally. Within hours, Ted tumbles off a ladder while hanging lights and winds up in Urgent Care.

There, he runs into Ruth Mittens, his ever-encouraging former science teacher, and reconnects with Dr. Hope Miller (Kimberley Sustad), the girl he once secretly adored in high school.
Ted is certain that meeting Hope is the sign his luck has finally changed but Christmas chaos has a few more surprises in store. With the help of his family, old friends, and a newfound love, Ted learns that sometimes the best holiday miracles come from life’s little stumbles.
Merry Christmas Ted Cooper is a story of optimism, second chances, and believing that, even after a few bruises, Christmas can still be merry. It’s a movie about picking yourself up and remembering why Christmas still matters.
