Thirteen Lives is a British biographical survival drama film directed by American director Ron Howard from the screenplay by William Nicholson who has written the story with and English writer Don Macpherson. It stars Viggo Mortensen, Colin Farrell, Joel Edgerton, and Tom Bateman in the prominent roles along with the other cast.
The movie is produced under Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Bron Creative, Imagine Entertainment, Magnolia Mae, and Storyteller Productions during 2021 but the movie premiered in the selected theatres on 29 July 2022. The movie has been released on Prime Video on 5 August inside the United States.

Thirteen Lives was filmed inside Queensland, Australia and Thailand during 2021. Principal filming began on 29 March 2021 and wrapped up in June 2021.
Queensland was used to shoot most of the scenes. A production camp was setup in the suburb of Mudgeeraba, Numinbah Valley, and Springbrook National Park inside the Gold Coast city.
Canungra is a rural town of the scenic rim region of South East Queensland famous for War Memorial, Visitor Information Centre, and Mountview Alpaca Farm. Queensland is becoming a popular filming location lately where Spiderhead, A Perfect Pairing, and Holey Moley series was filmed.
Other than that, Village Roadshow Studios was used to film interior scenes. The studio is located on Entertainment Road, Oxenford and hosts the underwater scenes. Various cast members felt uneasy and panic during the filming process.
Finally, the production team went Thailand to shoot some landscapes but the team was able to film only a few scenes there due to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions. The country is located in the center of Mainland South East Asia and is famous for tourism and beach parties.

Yes, Thirteen Lives movie is based on the real inspiring story of the 2018 Thailand cave rescue. The boys were returning home after a soccer practice to do some hiking on Tham Luang Nang Non cave in Chiang Rai Province of Thailand.
The boys were planning to have some afternoon hike but as soon as they entered into the cave, it began pouring and they were traped. Rescue workers were unable to spot them until 10 days of their missing and it took another eight days to rescue of all of them safely.

Synopsis
Thirteen Lives follows a rescue mission in Thailand where a group of boys were trapped along with their soccer coach in underground caves that are flooding.
