Honeymoon with my Mother is a Spanish 2022 romantic comedy film directed by Paco Caballero, written by Cristóbal Garrido and Adolfo Valor, and produced by Juan Gordon under Morena Films, The Lab Cinema, and the identical pictures studio.
The story follows a young man named Jose who is dumped by his future wife at the altar and is picked up by her overprotective mother, Mari Carmen in an attempt to visit the honeymoon destination that her son has planned before the marriage.
Mother’s Love movie is now streaming on Netflix while the original distribution rights are owned by Netflix Espanol.
Honeymoon with my Mother Filming Locations
Honeymoon with my Mother was filmed inside Mauritius and Canary Islands. Filming began in January 2020 but wasn’t completed until early 2021. Due to covid-19 pandemic, the shooting was halted for six months and eventually begun in August 2020 and wrapped up in January 2021.
Most scenes took place in the islands of Mauritius, the cast were spotted in Jan 2020 when the filming was in early phase.
Mauritius is an island nation located in the southeastern coast of Africa. The multicultural population, expensive resorts(Resort to Love), perfect night stay rooms, well decorated apartments, and Seven colored Earths makes this place an ideal for other tourist destinations. Moreover, Mauritius is the home to two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Le Morne Cultural Landscape and Aapravasi Ghat.
The film’s producer Juan Gordon revealed in the interview that Justina was keep on testing positive for the whole stay of six months. Moreover, she was admitted in the hospital for almost five weeks.
At that time, they shot everything they can in the Mauritius without her. Then, Juan decided to leave the place to visit Spain and miraculously, Justina Bustos tested negative that day.
So, rest of the filming was done in Canary Islands where everyone was available fit and fine. The shooting took place for five days in January and finally the principal filming comes to an end that day. The producer also revealed that there may be another part of the film but first they want to see how it works.

The future wife of Jose has left her in the altar but her persistent mother has blinded herself to go on with son at his honeymoon. When Jose resists her mom’s decision, she come up with an excuse of not wasting the money. The family drama begins in Mauritius along with the washed up nature of Jose.
Review
The movie is full of drama but the sweet nature of Mari Carmen is adorable. She reveals her unexplored face and her wonderful nature that nobody in the family can see. Overall, Amor de madre is funny, dramatic, and full of humor.
