Where was Acapulco filmed? Where’s the place located?

Acapulco is a comedy TV series created by Austin Winsberg, Eduardo Cisneros, and Jason Shuman under the production of Apple TV+. The story was inspired by another 2017 Spanish movie How to be a Latin Lover that sets in mid 80s picturesque resort named Las Colinas where a young man got his dream job and enjoys his life with Spanish music. But his seniors take his tests at all moments of his work and wish him good luck as one mistake can lead to losing his job. The resort looks beautiful from inside and charming from outside has been well placed in the movie but where’s the place located?

Acapulco Filming Locations

Acapulco was filmed at the location of Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco inside Mexico. Principal filming for season 1 began on 7 April 2021 and wrapped up on 27 June 2021 at the same place.

Season 2 again filmed at the same location but at a different hotel in spring 2022 and currently, season 3 of Acapulco began filming on 15 April 2023 inside Puerto Vallarta. Fernando Carso posted a photo on his Instagram after two weeks of filming at the location.

Vallarta Today spotted Eugenio Derbez along with other cast members filming season 3 across several streets in downtown Puerto Vallarta. The report also shared that Vallarta has attracted hundreds of tourists and locals that are going to be part of this wonderful series.

Acapulco is a beach resort town and a famous city of Mexico located at the country’s Pacific coast. The resort has thrilling rides, majestic interior, and amazing staff. Moreover, some shooting took place in Mismaloya town.

Fernando Carsa also shared a photo with supporting cast in Mismaloya, the remote town is situated near the Puerto Vallarta. The place is also becoming a popular tourist place after being featured in other Apple TV+ original, Defending Jacob. Caretakers are also working hard to keep everything on place.

Why did people stop going to Acapulco?

People stopped going to Acapulco because of rising crime rate and gang mass murder at the place after 2014 according to SKYNEWS and other authoritative sources. The city became the seventh deadliest city in the world and US govt warned its citizens to not travel there.

Acapulco Cast

Eugenio Derbez is playing the role of Today’s Maximo, the main protagonist of the series who is telling his success story to his nephew. He tells that it was like a dream come true when he got his desired job for lifetime at the most popular resort of Acapulco. But as soon as the days gone by, young Maximo in 1984(Enrique Arrizon) realized that the job isn’t as easy it seems and fun part is going to fade away.

Raphael Alejandro is in the role of Hugo, Maximo’s nephew who is listening his uncle’s story quietly.
