Filming began in December 2018 and on 23 Feb 2019, Corinne Fox shared that the filming has been officially wrapped inside Pinewood Studios.
A permanently water filled stage was utilized for the production along with Basildon’s underwater studio, an underrated film studio that was also used in the filming of Harry Porter and James Bond.
The cast and crew stayed in the tank for up to 8 hours at a time, in order to accurately capture the sense of being deep underwater.
Most of the shooting took place at the Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire where artificial sharks were created. The production team used a combination of both practical and CGI effects to bring the story to life.
Some of the scenes were filmed at Dominican Republic Studios located in Juan Dolio, a small seaside community and tourist destination in the San Pedro de Macoris province on the island of Hispaniola.
