3 Body Problem was filmed across US, UK, China, Brazil, Spain, and Chile over a period of ten months. Principal shooting began in November 2021 and wrapped in September 2022, as per documentation of creators David Benioff, DB Weiss, and Alexander Woo.
England, United Kingdom
Most of the scenes were shot on location in different cities across the UK like London, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Portsmouth, Kent, Oxford, Sussex, and Bedfordshire.
A major filming spot was Shepperton Studios in Surrey, England. This famous movie studio has huge soundstages perfect for building the big sci-fi sets and special effects needed for “3 Body Problem.” Many other hit shows like Downton Abbey have also filmed at Shepperton.
Scotland, UK
The crew also captured the beautiful rolling hills of Scotland for the show.
São Paulo, Brazil
Actor Benedict Wong played the role of Da Shi in the series posted a cheesy photograph of him along with the co-actor John Bradley West, who played Jack Rooney.
NYC, New York, USA
Some scenes were filmed in the United States too. The UN Headquarters building in New York City was used for important scenes in the season finale.

What is the plot of 3 Body Problem?

It turns out, a message Ye Wenjie sent into space in the past has been intercepted by an alien civilization on a chaotic three-sun planet called Trisolaris.
