Step Brothers is an American comedy film directed by Adam McKay, written by Will Ferrell, John C. Reily, and Adam McKay. The film stars Will Ferrell, John C. Reily, Mary Steenburgen, Richard Jenkins, Adam Scott, and Kathryn Hahn.
The story revolves around two immature 40-year-old adults who still live with their respective single parents and are forced to live as brothers under one roof when their respective single parents start dating.
The movie was released on July 25, 2008 and was filmed in a suburban area to complement the background of the characters and the plot.

Two forty-year-old men, Brennan and Dale, are forced to live together when their single parents start dating. The two men have a difficult time getting along with each other, but they eventually find common ground when they discover that they both hate Brennan’s wealthy brother Derek.
They decide to start a business together, but Dale’s father’s dreams for him cause tension between them. Will Ferrell and John C. Reily skillfully bring the audience on a comedic crazy ride through the story.
Step Brothers Filming Locations
The film Step Brothers is a movie that was filmed in many different locations around California. Some of the places they filmed were in Panorama City, North Hills, Hollywood, Culver City, and Rancho Palos Verdes. They also filmed in Long Beach and in the suburbs of South Pasadena, Altadena, and Arcadia. The restaurant scene was filmed at the famous Derby Restaurant in Arcadia.
The director and cast of Step Brothers also travelled to San Diego to film some sequences, including a restaurant scene. San Diego, with its sprawling parks, beautiful coastlines, art galleries, museums, and sunny weather, is one of the most vibrant and colorful cities in the state. Many movies, including Farrell’s own Anchorman, have been filmed in San Diego in the past.
