Chieng was born on 21 November 1985 according to The Guardian report inside Johor Bahru, Malaysia in a Malaysian Chinese family. He was born in Malaysia but raised in Singapore and the United States from 1989 to 1994. Currently in 2022, he is living in his residence in Manchester, New Hampshire.
