Dopesick season 2 is one of the highly anticipated Hulu original that fans have been waiting since 2021.
Created by Danny Strong, the American medical drama that shows the America’s struggle with Opioid epidemic when people had destroyed their lives amid their rising addiction of drugs.
The limited series is based on 2018 nonfiction book ‘Dopesick: Dealers, Doctors and the Drug Company that Addicted America’ written by Beth Macy.
It stars Michael Keaton as Dr. Samuel who plays the role of one of the doctor who addicted America. The series look surrealistic as the exact places were used as the filming locations.
Will there be season 2 of Dopesick?
One year has been passed since the medical series premiered and still there are no signs of renewal. The series began airing on 13 October 2021 and concluded with the eight episode on 17 November 2021.
The finale episode ended with a close note that doesn’t left any room for another season. Also, the series was mentioned as a miniseries by the creator Danny Strong but he has shown interest in covering more details on the opioid crisis’s post 2007 developments in another season.
We can also expect to see a spinoff for the Michael Keaton series that will continue the prosecution part of Richard Sackler and how other big companies helped him in growing his company. Little Fires Everywhere season 2 is another awaited eight part Hulu limited series.
Is Dopesick based on a true story?
Dopesick is partially based on the true story of Tennessee’s opioid epidemic that spread with the Purdue’s Pharma addictive painkiller OxyContin.
The Nashville opioid czar was himself addicted with the same drug and was bound to take even 100 pills per day, the state media reported.
Based on Beth Macy book of the same title, the series can be divided into four timelines.
Out of which one follows a high ranking Drug enforcement agency official, second follows two Virginia prosecutors who carried out their own investigation on the Purdue Pharma case.
Third follows Richard Sackler as the former president and chairman of the evil pharmaceutical company who played a crucial role in the initiation of epidemic that affected millions of Americans, according to NPR and finally the role of Dr Samuel Finnix and his patient Betsy Mallum.
Is Bridget Meyer a real person?
Officer Bridget is a fictional character from Beth Macy’s book of the same title as series. She is a high ranking Drug Enforcement agency official who tries to take down Purdue Pharma.
It is sad to hear that such a courageous personality doesn’t exist in real life, but worry not there are so many competent officers in America that are working hard like her in kinds of places.
Even though, there are countless scammers and bribe takers but America is running because of people like Officer Bridget Meyer who are always fighting against the bad. Hats off to these people, they deserves a medal.

What will happen in Dopesick season 2?
The excellent miniseries cleverly interweaves facts and examines the dreadful causes and effects of the opioid crisis inside the United States of America by Purdue Pharma.
Even though, it seems that the series has covered almost everything related to the epidemic, there is always something left to cover like the role of other powerful pharma companies in the distribution of OxyContin.
Mountcastle and Ramseyer were assigned a new case regarding another pharmaceutical business in the season 1 ending. So, the duo will be seen once again working together to expose another pharma company in Dopesick season 2.
