Despicable Me 4 Release Date, Trailer, Main Villain, Gru Age

Despicable Me 4 began production in June 2022, and is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on July 3, 2024.

The Minions franchise has been very successful at the box office, so many fans have been waiting for an official release date since the premiere of The Rise of Gru, which came out in 2022, the most recent film in the Despicable Me franchise, that tells the origin story of young Gru and how he met his iconic yellow Minions.

The movie was a hit, grossing over $920 million worldwide. This success means there’s a good chance we could see more Despicable Me movies in the future like Despicable 5, but now, we can only talk about the fourth part, which is scheduled to premiere later in the year.

We will see Gru struggling to balance his dad duties with his newfound love of being a good guy in this 2024 film. It will be interesting to see, if he will be able to juggle both? Only time (and mischievous Minions) will tell!

Is Despicable Me 4 Coming Out?

Yes, Gru and his mischievous Minions are officially returning on July 3rd, 2024 for a fourth film! That’s right, the wait is almost over, and we can’t wait to see what kind of trouble (and maybe even heartwarming moments) they get up to next.

What Will Despicable Me 4 Be About?

The plot details are still under wraps, but the trailer gives us a few clues. It looks like Gru will be facing off against a new villain named Maxime Le Mal, a Hollywood-obsessed baddie with a serious case of disco fever.

Gru’s trying to juggle his life as a reformed supervillain with his role as a responsible dad. We see him struggling to keep up with his mischievous daughters, Margo, Edith, and Agnes, and even facing some challenges with his new son, Gru Jr.

Who Plays Gru in Despicable Me 4?

The one and only Steve Carell will be reprising his iconic role as Gru! Get ready for his signature grumpy charm and hilarious voice acting.

But don’t let his flashy appearance fool you – Maxime Le Mal is no joke. He’s got some dastardly plans up his sleeve, and Gru will have to use all his cunning and gadgets (and maybe even some Minion mayhem) to stop him.

Will Gru and Lucy Have a Baby?

That’s a question the trailer leaves unanswered! We do see Gru and Lucy looking happy together, but there are no baby bumps in sight. We’ll have to wait and see if the Despicable family expands in this movie.

How Old is Gru in Minions 4?

Gru was 12 years old in the 2022 film Minions: The Rise of Gru. This prequel told his origin story of becoming a villain and meeting his loyal yellow followers.

So, Gru wouldn’t be in that film. In Despicable Me 4, Gru’s age is unknown, but he’s likely still in his 40s or 50s, and married to Lucy, trying to juggle fatherhood and world-saving.

Is Despicable 4 worth-watching?

If you enjoyed the previous Despicable Me movies and Minions content, then you’ll also like to watch Despicable Me 4. The trailer hints at some touching scenes between Gru and his daughters, as well as the introduction of his son.

Gru faces off against a new villain with some high-tech gadgets and disco dance moves, so if you like action scenes and adventure, this movie might have something for you. You can even watch The Beekeeper for more action scenes.
