The movie was released on 4 March 2016 inside the US cinemas under the distribution of Disney Motion Pictures and was garnered lots of positive reviews from the critics. It become a blockbuster after grossing the collection of $1.2 Billion on box office under a $150 Million budget.
Are they gonna make a Zootopia 2?
Yes, the creators have started working on Zootopia 2 after receiving a renewal from the Disney boss. The official announcement has been recently made by Disney’s CEO Bob Iger on 8 Feb 20223 while presenting the Q1 earnings.
“Today I’m so pleased to announce that we have sequels in the works from our animation studios to some of our most popular franchises, Toy Story, Frozen and Zootopia,” Iger said. “We’ll have more to share about these productions soon, but this is a great example of how we’re leaning into our unrivaled brands and franchises.”
Tha news has come in the middle of the layoffs of 7,000 employees at Disney+. Since the three movies have proven to be a huge global crossing hits on the big screens, the conglomerate is planning to bring more out of those in an attempt to make the viewers happy and become profitable again.
Is Zootopia+ Zootopia 2?
No, the two are different. While Zootopia+ is a series that has been released on Disney+ in 2022, Zootopia 2 is an upcoming sequel to the 2016 film directed by Jared Bush that isn’t having an exact release date yet but it has been speculated to be release around late 2023 or early 2024.

Some unofficial reports claimed that the new Zootropolis 2 or second part of Zootopia will come out in 24 Nov 2024. The movie hasn’t released since six years and it can be released on the mentioned date if the project is underway.
The film deserves a sequel after a major success for the first movie due to its awesomeness and humor on social commentary.
Why was Zootopia 2 cancelled?
Producers believe that the movie works well as a single film due to its kid-friendly rating that would be affected if a sequel was announced.
The voice actors were trying hard to maintain the kids rating without any involvement of bad words and it become harder with another part.
So, the idea for releasing a second part was dropped at that time but it seems that the team is trying to bring another film.
When is Zootopia 2 coming out?

What will happen in Zootopia 2?
Zootopia 2 story will be set in the world of animals who wear clothes like humans, much like Beastars anime where Legoshi lives with his prey without scaring them. All the creatures either predator or prey lives peacefully as they have sort out all the differences.
The upcoming sequel or the miniseries will dive deeper into the lives of some of the feature film’s most intriguing characters, as Fru Fru, the newly married arctic shrew, Gazelle’s talented tiger dancers, and the sloth full of surprises, Flash.

NEVER (not even YET) has Disney set a date, or even mentioned the possibility. Look at the Disney website. They advertise EVERY NEW MOVIE–and yet Zootopia 2 has NEVER EVER even been a twinkle in anybody’s eye.
It’s rumor until the creators reveal the thing on camera but in reality, Director Howard had Zootopia 2 plans that he never disclosed.
