Fans of the clever young detective are finally getting another adventure. After months of speculation, production on Enola Holmes 3 has officially wrapped, and the upcoming Enola Holmes 3 promises even bigger mysteries, stunning period sets, and some beautiful real-world locations.
Starring Millie Bobby Brown as the fearless Enola and Henry Cavill returning her legendary brother Sherlock Holmes, the third installment continues the beloved Netflix franchise based on the book series by Nancy Springer. But this time, the adventure isn’t just bigger in story – it’s bigger in scale, with production spreading across stunning historic locations.
So if you’re wondering where Enola Holmes 3 was actually filmed, here’s a look behind the scenes at the real places that helped bring Enola’s latest mystery to life.
Enola Holmes 3 Filming Locations
Enola Holmes 3 (2026) was primarily filmed in Malta and the United Kingdom. Key locations included Valletta, Mdina, Mellieħa, and Attard in Malta, alongside studio work at Shepperton Studios in Surrey, England. Filming wrapped on June 27, 2025, after a production period that began in April 2025.

London, England, UK
Just like the previous films, London once again plays a major role in the movie’s setting. The city’s historic streets and preserved architecture make it a perfect match for stories set in the late 19th century.
Many interior and exterior scenes for the film were reportedly shot around London studios (especiallt Shepperton) and historic districts, which have frequently been used to recreate Victorian London for period dramas.
Most of the film was shot at Shepperton Studios, one of the country’s most famous production facilities. Located in Surrey, the studio has been used for numerous major films and television projects over the years.
The city previously served as a key backdrop for both Enola Holmes (2020) and Enola Holmes 2 (2022), so returning here keeps the visual continuity of the franchise intact.
Malta
If the story is sending Enola on an international adventure, Malta could easily substitute as another European destination in the plot. That’s why, a large portion of the movie was filmed in the Mediterranean country of Malta.
With its centuries-old stone architecture, fortified cities, and narrow alleyways, Malta often doubles for historical European settings in major Hollywood productions.
For Enola Holmes 3, several of Malta’s most picturesque towns were used to build the story’s adventurous setting.
Valletta
The capital city of Valletta served as one of the film’s primary outdoor shooting locations.

Known for its honey-colored limestone buildings and dramatic harbor views, Valletta’s streets naturally resemble the architecture of the 19th century. The city’s narrow lanes, historic stairways, and grand squares provided the perfect setting for chase scenes, detective work, and mysterious encounters.
Filming in Valletta allowed the production to capture an authentic old-world atmosphere without relying entirely on CGI or constructed sets.
Mdina
The production also moved to Mdina, often called “The Silent City.”

Mdina is one of Malta’s most historic locations, filled with medieval gates, stone courtyards, and winding streets that feel frozen in time. Because of its preserved architecture, the city is a favorite filming spot for period dramas.
For Enola Holmes 3, Mdina likely helped create scenes that required a more mysterious or secluded setting—perfect for a story about secret investigations and hidden clues.
Mellieħa
Another Maltese location used during production was Mellieħa.
Situated in the northern part of Malta, Mellieħa is known for its elevated views, coastal scenery, and historic churches. The town’s surrounding landscapes offer a very different visual tone compared to the dense streets of Valletta.
These locations could be used for outdoor sequences, travel scenes, or moments where the story expands beyond the city.
Attard
Filming also took place in Attard, a charming town located in central Malta.
Attard is famous for its gardens, elegant buildings, and historic estates. Locations like these are often used in period films to represent aristocratic homes or secret meeting places.
Given the political intrigue and mystery elements in the Enola Holmes stories, Attard’s stately surroundings could easily double for the homes of wealthy Victorian characters
Behind the Scenes
Millie Bobby Brown shared a short BTS clip on Instagram on April 22, 2025, celebrating the first official day of filming for Enola Holmes 3. Though, the clip goes off the track as Enola and Tewkesbury (Louis Partridge) are seen wearing modern outfitts, defying the 1884 style.
The actress shared another set of BTS pics on her Instagram from the shoot, captioning them with a simple ‘case closed’. She can be seen chilling on the beach her co-star Louis Patridge and director Philip Barantini.
A Bigger Adventure for Enola Holmes
The new movie once again follows Enola as she takes on another complex case. This time with higher stakes and a wider world.
Returning cast members include:
- Millie Bobby Brown as Enola Holmes
- Henry Cavill as Sherlock Holmes
- Louis Partridge as Lord Tewkesbury
- Helena Bonham Carter as Eudoria Holmes
- Himesh Patel as Dr. John Watson
The Netflix franchise, based on the book series by Nancy Springer, has grown into one of the platform’s most popular mystery adventures thanks to its mix of humor, detective work, and fourth-wall-breaking narration.
With new filming locations and a larger production scope, the third film appears ready to expand Enola’s world beyond London.
