Plot Review

Greetings once more from the darkness. We see glimpses of the meteor on its way to collide with Earth, but no one ever mentions it. In truth, maximum emits a relaxing vibe that corresponds to that of the movie. The simplest exception is Liza. Played by Zoe Lister-Jones, Liza merely desires to get trashed and let the sector finish in a single day… smartly after she finishes off her morning pancakes (no less than a dozen) and glass of wine. Liza’s simplest downside is Young Liza (Cailee Spaeny), her metaphysically more youthful self, who pressures Liza to wait for the Apocalypse Party being thrown via Mandy (Whitney Cummings).

In addition to attending the birthday party, Young Liza persuades Liza to spend the day confronting her regrets. This entails gathering them one by one, along with her divorced parents (Brad Whitford and Helen Hunt), a former best friend (Olivia Wilde), and previous boyfriends, as well as her one true love (Logan Marshall-Green). In truth, this trip down Regret Road supplies a gentle circulation of stereotypical California flakes. This type of soul-searching isn’t very deep, but playing spot-the-funny-person is a win-win situation. None of the interactions appear to last more than 2-4 minutes, but it’s fun to see how many familiar faces appear throughout Liza and Young Liza’s day of strolling. We may not identify the others right here in an effort to revel in every second, some greater than others.

The movie is co-written and co-directed by Zoe Lister-Jones and Daryl Wein, and it is probably the most entertaining “pandemic” movie up to now. The consistent roll of quick vignettes was by no means given previously for me; however, you must know that because the performances are from Lister-Jones and Spaeny, the soul-searching and self-discovery merely skim the skin. Despite the fact that a 1980s relic agreed to be a punchline, a relaxed End of the World birthday party produces the best results.
