Director Anna Gutto has commented that the movie was shot in the middle of summer 2021 in Jackson, Clarksdale, and the Mississippi delta close to Freeman’s blues club. The director revealed that heat was a major challenge for all the cast and crew members while filming.
Even though, temperatures may not seem that hot from July to September, humidity was the main tropical factor that caused trouble in shooting of Paradise Highway. Also, there were too many mosquitoes.

The film follows a woman truck driver named Sally who gets caught up in a dangerous smuggling job that is involved with acts of child trafficking.
In an attempt to save her brother, Sally must confront the harsh realities of the illegal underworld and risk her own safety. She has to complete the task given to him without falling into the hands of FBI operatives. Any failure will lead to the death of Dennis in prison.
Along the way, Sally meets a young girl, Leila, who is also being trafficked and they decide to join forces in an attempt to escape the traffickers. As Sally and Leila begin a danger-fraught journey across state lines, a dogged FBI operative (Freeman) sets out on their trail, determined to do whatever it takes to bring the traffickers to justice just like Major William Cage did in Edge of Tomorrow.
