Directed by Colin Theys and written by Juliana Wimbles, Love on the Amazon is an American Hallmark rom-com movie that stars Jaicy Elliot, Rafael de la Fuente, and Raissa Xavier in the lead roles of Claire, Danny, and Milly. The film takes us on a journey towards Southern America through through its amazing filming locations. Let’s have a look where was the whole shooting took place.
Where Was Love on the Amazon Filmed?
Unlike many Hallmark movies that use stand-in locations, Love on the Amazon was filmed on real locations in Iquitos, Peru, right in the Northern Amazon region of South America. Filming officially began on August 11, 2025, and much of the production took place outdoors – on rivers, boats, and inside the rainforest itself.

Iquitos, Peru
Most of the movie was filmed in and around Iquitos, a city surrounded entirely by rainforest.

Many of the film’s key scenes were shot directly on the Amazon River. These include riverboat travel sequences, sunset conversations, and moments that show daily life along the riverbanks.

According to Jaicy Elliot, nearly two-thirds of the shoot took place on a real boat. Long days under the sun, humidity, and limited space made the experience challenging – but also helped bring realism to the performances.

Behind the Scenes
Jaicy Elliot described the experience as feeling like “Survivor,” explaining that the team was truly dropped into the middle of the Amazon.
Out of 15 total shooting days, nine were spent entirely on a boat, dealing with heat, humidity, and tight working conditions. Despite the challenges, Jaicy shared that the experience helped her connect deeply with her character.
She also described the Amazon River as its own “character” in the movie, always present through sound, visuals, and atmosphere. The environment brought a raw honesty to the performances that would have been impossible to recreate on a set.
She said:
“We were really dropped into the middle of the Amazon River,” Jaicy shared. Working long hours on a moving boat brought real challenges – but also helped the actors connect deeply with their characters.
Jaicy also described the Amazon River as its own “character” in the movie. The actor shared a BTS pic on the very first day of filming.
