With Idris Elba starring as Detective Chief Inspector John, the Luther movie acts as a sequel to the crime television series of the same name created by Neil Cross for Netflix.

Aldwych station is an abandoned station of London where a fighting scene between Luther and the character David Robey was filmed.

Another significant thing about this station is that it has been used as a filming location The Imitation Game and the climax scene of V for Vendetta was also filmed at this abandoned train station.

The prison where we see Luther is kept is a real prison named HM Dorchester Prison located in Dorset. According to the production designer Jon gary Steele, the crew painted three floors of the prison to give it a historic Victorian lock and sourced the missing doors from Gloucester jail.

Elba was also spotted filming in London’s Soho area during the filming of Luther movie.

The water scenes in Luther movie were taken in a 1,450 sq meter water age at Lite Studios, Belgium during early 2022. Production team took almost three weeks to prepare the set and another week to complete the filming at Vilvoorde-based film studio located 348 Km away from London.
