Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

Winnipeg, the capital of Manitoba, Canada, served as the picturesque backdrop for Hallmark’s “Haunted Wedding.” This bustling city, rich in history and culture, provided the perfect setting for the film’s spooky and romantic storyline.

Historic Buildings and Landmarks:

  • Old Market Square: This historic public square, located in the heart of downtown Winnipeg, could have been a potential filming location. Its cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and vibrant atmosphere would have added a touch of authenticity to the film’s setting.
  • Exchange District: Known as Canada’s largest intact historic commercial district, the Exchange District is home to numerous heritage buildings, including the Richardson Building and the Hudson’s Bay Company Building. These grand structures could have provided the perfect backdrop for the haunted inn and its surrounding areas.
  • Fort Garry: The historic Fort Garry, located on the banks of the Red River, might have been another filming location. Its preserved ruins and scenic surroundings would have created a haunting and atmospheric setting for the film.

Scenic Outdoors:

  • Assiniboine Park: Winnipeg’s largest park, Assiniboine Park, offers a variety of scenic landscapes, including gardens, forests, and a zoo. The park’s tranquil atmosphere and natural beauty could have been used to capture the film’s romantic and spooky moments.
  • Red River Valley: The Red River Valley, which surrounds Winnipeg, is known for its rolling hills, fertile farmland, and scenic vistas. The valley’s peaceful and picturesque landscapes could have been used to create a sense of isolation and mystery.

Local Neighborhoods:

  • St. Boniface: Winnipeg’s French-Canadian quarter, St. Boniface, is known for its historic buildings, charming streets, and cultural heritage. The neighborhood’s unique character and architecture could have added a touch of European flair to the film’s setting.
  • West End: The West End, a historic neighborhood with a bohemian atmosphere, is home to numerous art galleries, cafes, and vintage shops. The neighborhood’s eclectic mix of old and new could have provided a visually interesting backdrop for the film.

While specific filming locations haven’t been publicly disclosed, it’s likely that the production team explored a combination of these historic buildings, scenic outdoors, and local neighborhoods to create the haunting and romantic atmosphere of Haunted Wedding.

Autumn at Apple Hill is another recent Hallmark movie that was shot in Winnipeg.
