Spider Noir: Where to Watch Nicolas Cage’s Most Unexpected Comeback

Nicolas Cage has won an Academy Award. He has starred in over 100 films. He has played a Ghost Rider, a treasure hunter, and a hitman who kidnaps himself. But in 2026, he did something he has never done in his entire career.

He took the lead role in a TV series for the very first time.

That show is Spider Noir. It is streaming right now. And if you have been wondering where to find it, how to watch it, and whether it is worth your time, this guide answers every single question.

Where to Watch Spider Noir?

Spider Noir has two streaming homes. In the United States, MGM+ aired all episodes first on May 25, 2026. Two days later, Prime Video released the series globally across more than 240 countries and territories on May 27, 2026.

How to watch Spider Noid outside the US?

Outside the US, Prime Video is the only place to watch Spider Noir. Inside the US, it is the easiest place to watch it since most people already have Prime.

Spider Noir dropped all of its episodes on Prime Video at once as a full binge release on May 27, 2026. No waiting. No weekly schedule. Every episode available from day one.

If you already have Amazon Prime, open the app and search Spider Noir. That is all you need to do.

Now here is the part nobody else is talking about

Spider Noir does something no Marvel show has ever done before. Prime Video is offering viewers the choice between two distinct visual experiences: Authentic Black and White, and True-Hue Full Color.

You pick how you watch it.

The black-and-white version is the full noir experience. Shadows, ink, grain, and mood. Cage likened the color version’s style to the painting Nighthawks by Edward Hopper. One critic described the difference this way: the color version veers more toward the lighthearted comic-strip crime capers of Dick Tracy, while the black and white conjures the sinister moral abyss of Raymond Chandler’s novels.

That means you can technically watch Spider Noir twice and get two genuinely different experiences.

The Show is Live-Action, Not Animated

This surprises a lot of people. Many fans remember Nicolas Cage voicing Spider-Man Noir in the Spider-Verse animated films. Spider Noir the series is completely different.

Spider-Noir is not connected to the events of the Spider-Verse movies. It just features the same character. Cage steps out of the recording booth and onto an actual set this time. Real costumes. Real locations. Real punches.

Filming took place in Los Angeles from August 2024 to March 2025. The result is a live-action Marvel series unlike anything the studio has produced before.

Who is Ben Reilly and why is he not Peter Parker

This matters. The character in Spider Noir is not Peter Parker.

Ben Reilly is an aging, down-on-his-luck private investigator who grapples with his past life as the only superhero in 1930s New York City. He is also known simply as “The Spider.” The name change from Parker to Reilly was deliberate. Co-showrunner Oren Uziel said one of the reasons for changing the name was to better fit with the series’ noir tone, saying that “Peter Parker feels very synonymous with a high school kid. Boyish.”

The tagline for the whole series says it better than anything: “With no power, comes no responsibility.” That is a direct inversion of the most famous line in Spider-Man history. And it tells you everything about the tone of this show.

Brendan Gleeson plays Silvermane, the Irish crime boss at the center of the story. Gleeson is one of the finest character actors working today. His scenes with Cage are what early reviews are calling the highlight of the entire series. Lamorne Morris, best known for his work on New Girl and various prestige dramas, appears across nearly every episode as Robbie Robertson.

Nicolas Cage: From Ghost Rider to Spider Noir

Ghost Rider was chaotic and messy. Cage gave it everything anyway. His appearance in Spider-Verse was supposed to be brief comic relief. He played it so completely straight that it became one of the most beloved parts of the whole movie. Fans talked about it for years. They wanted more.

This is the first starring role in a TV series for Nicolas Cage. After more than four decades in Hollywood, he chose this as the project to finally lead a television show. That tells you something important about how seriously he took it.

The Creative Team Behind the Show

This is not a rushed cash grab. Look at who built it.

Emmy Award-winning director Harry Bradbeer, who directed Fleabag and Killing Eve, directed and executive produced the first two episodes. Co-showrunners Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot developed the series. Uziel and Lightfoot developed the series with the Academy Award-winning team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse: Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Amy Pascal.

The people who made arguably the best Spider-Man film ever made are running this show. That is not a small thing.

Episode Count and Total Watch Time

Spider Noir consists of eight episodes, each running approximately 45 minutes. That is around six hours of total content. All eight episodes are available to stream right now.

What Is Spider Noir Actually About

New York City, 1933. The Great Depression has broken the city in half. Corruption runs from the street corner all the way to city hall. Ben Reilly used to be a superhero. Then something terrible happened, and he walked away from all of it.

Now he is a private investigator. He takes the cases nobody else wants. He drinks too much and sleeps too little. When an exceptional case comes his way, Reilly must become The Spider once more.

Executive producer Phil Lord told Deadline the show is not intended as an overly downbeat watch, describing it as “a big character drama, an amazing mystery, and big event television, but also light on its feet.” It earns its darkness without wallowing in it

Is Spider Noir connected to the Spider-Verse Movies

No. Spider-Noir is not part of the Spider-Verse. Yes, Nicolas Cage is playing the same character he played in the Spider-Verse movies, but it is a completely self-contained story separate from Sony Pictures Animation’s movie series.

You do not need to have seen the Spider-Verse films to follow this show. The story works completely on its own. That said, fans of the animated films will enjoy seeing Cage go deeper into a character he clearly loves playing.

What the Red Carpet Said…

The premiere took place in New York City and the cast turned up with something to say. On the red carpet, when asked for a favorite quote from his own filmography, Cage reached for a line from Moonstruck, his 1987 romantic comedy: “The snowflakes are perfect. The stars are perfect. Not us. Not us. We are here to ruin ourselves and die.”

That quote, delivered at the premiere of a Marvel superhero show, tells you everything about who Nicolas Cage is and why Spider Noir works so well. He never does things the expected way. Neither does this series.

The Bottom Line

Spider Noir is not just another streaming show. It is Nicolas Cage doing the one thing he has never done before, in a genre that fits him perfectly, with a creative team that has already proven they can make the best Spider-Man content in the world.

MGM+ got it first in the US on May 25. The rest of the world got it on Prime Video on May 27. Every episode is available right now. You can watch it in black and white or full colour. You can binge the whole thing tonight.

Ghost Rider never got a proper sendoff. Ben Reilly just got eight episodes to make up for it.
