John Creasy is a U.S. Army Special Forces veteran from New Orleans, Louisiana. He struggles with PTSD and alcoholism. John gets framed in a terrorist attack while visiting Brazil.

When it came time to cast John Creasy, showrunner Kyle Killen knew Yahya Abdul-Mateen II was the man for the job. Killen explained: “The thing about Yahya is he can do everything. It’s not that I saw one thing and said, ‘That’s John Creasy.’ It’s that I saw his range, and realized, ‘That’s what John Creasy needs.'”

Abdul-Mateen is best known for his Emmy-winning performance in Watchmen and his roles in Aquaman and Ambulance. He also serves as an executive producer on Man on Fire.

Billie Boullet as Poe Rayburn

Boullet plays Poe Rayburn, a teenager growing at a rapid and confusing pace with the attitude that comes with it. Poe is unhappy about her parents’ decision to move to Brazil and spends her days with wealthy international classmates until a tragic incident changes her perspective on family and life. As the sole witness to a terrifying event, Poe quickly learns that her only real ally is John.

Alice Braga as Valeria Melo

Braga plays Valeria Melo, a professional driver with familial connections to a gang running a local favela. After Creasy hires Melo, she quickly becomes his right hand in protecting a young girl and pursuing the people behind the attack.

Filming for Man on Fire began on October 15, 2024 and concluded on February 21, 2025. Shooting took place in Mexico, Brazil, and Italy, with the story itself set in Brazil.

Creed II director Steven Caple Jr. directed the first two episodes and also serves as an executive producer alongside Abdul-Mateen.
